2016 Flyover Film Fest Showcases Kentucky's Filmaking Past And Present

The 2016 Flyover Film Festivalstarts this Sunday in Louisville with a mixture of documentaries and feature films with a local angle.

I spoke with executive director of the Louisville Film Society, Soozie Eastman, about some of the specifics of this year’s festival.

Listen to the audio in the player above.

On the purpose of the Louisville Film Commission:

“We really serve as liaisons for the city and for the economic development department, Louisville Forward, to be the conduit between the filmmakers and the local vendors and crew -- to create that connection between all of them and just really put Louisville's best foot forward.”

On the first film in this year’s festival:

“We open up with ‘The Seer’ which is the Wendell Berry story. It premiered at South by Southwest. Laura Dunn is the director on that. And we’re really excited for the Kentucky premiere that’s going to be at the Kentucky Center on Sunday.”

On what makes the festival unique:

"Some of these films might also be playing at different times in the future but often times, some of the films we choose might not otherwise have a time to be able to play here where people can see it off of there computer screen or off of their own home television."
