KentuckyOne's Headquarters to be in Louisville, Bringing 10 New Jobs

KentuckyOne Health's headquarters will be in downtown Louisville in the Jewish Hospital Medical Plaza building, the health system announced Thursday.

The decision is expected to add 10 new full-time jobs—$1.3 million in new annual payroll, according to a related news release from Greater Louisville Inc.

Here are the 19 Goals of Louisville's Sustainability Plan

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer is releasing the 19 goals of the city's draft sustainability plan on Twitter this afternoon. Here's a list of the goals, as they're released:

Goal #1: Decrease energy use citywide per capita by 25% by 2025.

Goal #2: Decrease energy use in city-owned buildings by 30% by 2025.

Goal #3: Mitigate the risk of climate change impacts by implementing city adaption and resilience strategies by 2018.

This Week in Asian Coal News: China Burns More, India Needs More

As Kentucky Moves Toward Executions, Appeals Run Out

At least three death row inmates could be nearing execution as Kentucky moves toward a new lethal injection method, with the governor's office already having requests to set dates for two and a third man out of direct appeals in his case.

Kentucky is implementing lethal injection by one or two drugs, depending upon the availability of the narcotics, after a judge ordered the state to abandon or be prepared to defend using the old three-drug mixture. The change takes legal effect Feb. 1.

Sen. Rand Paul Ranks No. 4 on Conservative Think Tank's Scorecard

The sister organization of the Heritage Foundation released its congressional scorecard this week, and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., is among the top-ranked lawmakers.

The Heritage Action for America focuses on a variety of issues on conservative agenda, and is considered a source for constituents to rate if lawmaker's votes match their rhetoric.

Among the 29 members of Congress in the "Sentinel status" of 90 percent or higher, Paul received a 96 percent approval rating from the group.

Chuck Hagel, who spent more than a decade in the Senate asking witnesses questions at hearings, will be the one answering them Thursday as his confirmation hearing to be secretary of defense begins.

His hearing follows that of Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., who was confirmed this week to be secretary of state.

Kerry and Hagel have a prominent biographical detail in common: service in Vietnam.
