President Obama mentioned him five times in Monday's inaugural address — God, that is.

In modern times, religion has become so intertwined in our political rhetoric that the failure of any president to invoke God in a speech as important as the inaugural could hardly escape notice. Thanks to this graphic in The Wall Street Journal, we noticed the presidents who did (nearly all) and the few who didn't (Teddy Roosevelt, Rutherford B. Hayes).

People sent to prison for sex offenses couldn't receive credit toward an early release by earning college degrees under a proposal supported by an Indiana Senate committee.

The Indiana Senate's corrections committee voted 8-1 today to advance the measure.

Bill sponsor Sen. Jim Merritt cited the case of a former high school swim coach who was released after serving less than two years of an eight-year sentence for having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl he coached.     The man was able to use his education credits to help shorten his time in prison. 

Lexington Mayor Jim Gray delivered his annual State of the Merged Government address today.

Gray highlighted the city’s successes, including an agreement last week with public safety unions to shore up the police and firefighter pension fund.   He also touted plan to bring the long buried Town Branch Creek back to the urban surface, and urged people to think of other big ideas for the city's future. 

Gray told reporters that Lexington is better off than a lot of cities, but still has work to do.

Mayor Greg Fischer says negotiations to reopen the Kentucky Kingdom amusement park are close to completion, but the parties involved remain silent about a possible lease.

CINCINNATI — The Reds will host the 2015 All-Star game at Great American Ball Park, the city's first since 1988, a person familiar with the decision tells The Associated Press.

Commissioner Bud Selig will discuss the decision on Wednesday in Cincinnati, where he's also appearing to promote Major League Baseball's latest urban youth academy, according to the person speaking on condition of anonymity because no announcements had been made.

The Cincinnati Enquirer first reported the decision.

Update at 5:19 p.m. ET. College Safe:

During a news briefing, Sheriff Maj. Armando Tello said that the Lone Star College campus is now safe.

Tello said three people were injured, after an altercation between two men led to a shooting. One of the individuals invovled in the altercation was a student at the college. Another one of those shot was a maintance worker caught in the cross fire.

Tello did not give any details as to the condition of the injured.

Classes will resume tomorrow.

Tickets to hear the Dalai Lama speak in May in Louisville  go on sale Wednesday morning.

The Buddhist leader and Nobel laureate will speak on May 19-20 at the KFC Yum Center in an event called Engaging Compassion, focusing on "how an individual can engage with compassion from within his or her own religious tradition in order to build world peace from the local level to the world community," according to a news release from the KFC Yum Center. The Monday talk will be a two-part public Buddhist teaching called "Attisha's Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment."

University of Louisville assistant football coach Clint Hurtt could be accused this week of violating NCAA rules when he was an assistant at the University of Miami.

A source tells CBS Sports that Hurtt, who’s U of L’s recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach, will be cited for unethical conduct for alleged recruiting violations at Miami, where he was on staff from 2007 to 2009.
