David Williams' exit as Kentucky State Senate president will likely stir a recurring major issue: gambling.

The leading Kentucky state Senate Democrat said senate  President David Williams's departure should bring new life to efforts to bring casino gambling to Kentucky racetracks, while a leading voice against expanded gaming said the move was politically motivated.

In college football, the Kentucky Wildcats dropped their seventh straight game, losing 33-10 at Missouri today.

UK was plagued by turnovers. The Wildcats had three fumbles that resulted in Missouri touchdowns.

Kentucky falls to 1-8 on the season and 0-5 in the Southeastern Conference.

The Tigers notched their first conference victory and evened their overall record to 4-4.

UK hosts Vanderbilt next Saturday.

The Indiana Hoosiers snapped a five-losing streak, defeating host Illinois 31-17.

It's been 100 years since author Edgar Rice Burroughs created Tarzan, and the University of Louisville is planning a party to celebrate.

Why? U of L's Special Collections Department is home to the world's largest institutional collection of Tarzan material, the university said.

That was the question Gallup posed to ​121,290 people June 1 and Sept. 30, 2012. The result is the largest single study of the distribution of the LGBT population in the U.S. on record, revealing data that turns the stereotype of the affluent, white, gay man on its head. For starters, African Americans and other ethnic minorities are more likely to be LGBT than white people.

A 30 yard field goal by John Wallace gave the Louisville Cards a 34-31 overtime victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats on a rainy Friday night at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

The Cards got their chance to win the game after intercepting a Cincinnati pass on the first overtime possession. The winning score came right after Wallace's first field goal attempt. There was a high snap on the first try, but the play was whistled dead because Cincinnati coach Butch Jones had called time out.

In a new television ad airing statewide, Republican Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock is going on the offensive in response to a series of attacks from his opponent and national Democrats.

The spot slams Congressman Joe Donnelly for "sleazy politics," and escalates what has become a national race for control of the Senate. Mourdock's camp is specifically responding to tough ad put out by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee that targets the GOP nominee's comments about that pregnancies resulting from rape were intended by God.

Mourdock's campaign says Donnelly and the Democrats are "twisting" his word and "attacking his faith" over the issue of abortion.

College football resumes tonight with Louisville hosting Cincinnati. The 16th ranked Cards are undefeated at 7-0 and hope to hand the Bearcats (5-1) their second straight loss.

Cincinnati dropped out of the top 25 after losing last weekend at Toledo.

Kickoff at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium is 8:00pm.

The Kentucky Wildcats visit Missouri Saturday.

Both teams are winless in SEC play. This is Missouri’s first season in the conference, and playing in Columbia will be a new experience for Joker Phillips’ Wildcats.
