Abramson Awarded Environmental Steward Award

Kentucky Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson was awarded the 2013 Public Leadership in Energy and Environmental Steward Award at an annual meeting of the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association in Washington, D.C.The award was presented by General Electric, a company with which Abramson worked extensively during his years as Louisville’s mayor. From the press release: “Lt. Gov. Abramson has been a longtime supporter of both U.S. energy resources and our environment,” said Trey Paris, of GE, who presented the award to Abramson today at NLGA’s Federal-State Relations meeting. “He has been a vocal supporter of his state’s seven-point energy plan that recognizes the importance of both energy and the environment and encourages both renewables and energy efficiency.”  As the keynote speaker at the 2012 Kentucky Governor’s Conference on Energy and the Environment last fall in Louisville, Abramson told audience members that it’s necessary for states to balance energy production with environmental stewardship. Abramson promotes clean energy and is an advocate and spokesman for Gov. Steve Beshear’s seven-point energy plan, which calls for a quarter of the state’s energy to come from renewable energy and efficiency measures by 2025.
