Actors Theatre Extends 'Pirates' Run

Due to heavy demand for tickets, Actors Theatre of Louisville is extending the run of "The Pirates of Penzance" in the Bingham Theatre. The company has added an extra performance, February 5 at 7:30 p.m., to increase capacity for the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta."We've been thrilled by the tremendous response we have seen from audiences. Louisville is really loving this party in the middle of winter," says spokeswoman Kirsty Gaukel. "People have been returning to see the show for a second time, so they can try out the promenade seats."The $10 promenade seats place the audience on the Bingham stage right in the middle of the action, offering an incredibly close and intimate look at the classic romantic musical comedy. "The Pirates of Penzance" is adapted, directed and performed by The Hypocrites, a Chicago-based experimental theatre company. This high-energy production tells the story of a band of honorable pirates who face off against a modern major-general in a battle for love, duty and honor. Read the review.
