Alison Lundergan Grimes Scolds Mitch McConnell Ad Targeting Matt Bevin

Highlighting an appearance at the Kentucky State Fair this week, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is scolding the latest attack ad by Republican Senator Mitch McConnell against his primary opponent Matt Bevin. The Grimes campaign says instead of "mudslinging" she is working with Kentucky's military service members. From a Grimes spokesperson: "As Senator McConnell turns to mudslinging his Republican opponent yet again, Alison Lundergan Grimes honored our men and women in uniform at the State Fair's Military Monday. Kentuckians are ready for a leader in the U.S. Senate—not a career politician who has wasted decades in Washington playing political games."It's the first comment from Grimes's people regarding the GOP battle. It also seeks to promote the "Grannies for Grimes" arm of her campaign in an effort to get attract senior votes. The Republican Party of Kentucky has been chiding Grimes for weeks over a lack of appearances.Republicans argue Grimes is seeking to avoid a discussion of the issues such as the president's health care law. She doesn't keep a public schedule as secretary of state and her staff often release events after their conclusion. The state GOP responded by highlighting that Grimes being at the fair today would be "part-time" Grimes's first public appearance since her formal rollout."Alison Lundergan Grimes should take advantage of her first public appearance in weeks and explain to Kentucky’s seniors how she can effectively fight for them when she clearly supports the implementation of Obamacare, which is responsible for robbing over $600 billion from Medicare and drastically cutting seniors’ access to healthcare," says Republican spokeswoman Kelsey Cooper.UPDATE:The McConnell campaign is also pouncing on the Grimes comments."It's concerning that Alison Lundergan Grimes chose to come out of the woodwork to support Matt Bevin's misleadings," said campaign manager Jesse Benton. "She should answer the question: Does she condone lying on ones resume?"
