Andy Beshear Raises Over $1 Million for Kentucky Attorney General Race

Louisville attorney Andy Beshear announced Monday that he has raised $1.1 million for his Kentucky attorney general bid.In the first three months of 2014, Beshear received $880,000 in contributions, but he has yet to file his campaign finance report.Observers note that Beshear has been massaging donors across the state since announcing his candidacy last November to succeed incumbent Jack Conway, who is term-limited."I have spent the past few months traveling the state, meeting Kentuckians, and listening to their concerns about the future of our great commonwealth," Beshear said in a news release. "Britainy (his wife) and I are grateful for the incredible outpouring of support we have seen from friends and strangers alike who share our vision of safe, healthy and prosperous communities for all Kentuckians."The campaign also received an endorsement from former Democratic U.S. Senator Wendell Ford, who said he had encouraged Beshear to run.Beshear is the son of incumebt Governor Steve Beshear and is the only Democrat running in next year's primary election thus far.Other rumored Democrats who might jump in the race are former Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Jennifer Moore of Louisville and state Rep. John Tilley of Hopkinsville.
