Annual Art Show Draws Crowds to Old Louisville

The annual St. James Court Art Show opens this weekend.  Last year's fair drew more than 200,000 visitors to historic Old Louisville. More than 700 artists will exhibit and sell their work in the streets around the St. James Court fountain near Central Park. Participating artists are selected by representatives from six different neighborhood groups. This year’s show poster was designed by Louisville artist Julie Wilkinson. She will sign posters, which will be for sale, at the official merchandise booth located directly across from the fountain.Proceeds from the art show, which was founded in 1957, go to maintain the historic neighborhood’s public areas.Admission is free. The art fair runs Friday through Sunday and is a rain-or-shine and pet-free event (service animals are allowed). Street Closings and ParkingSeveral streets around St. James Court will be closed or restricted through the weekend, including Fourth Street from Park Avenue to Hill Street. Street parking is limited during the fair, so TARC will run a shuttle every 15 minutes from the Brown Hotel garage on Fourth Street. The Second Street Neighborhood Association will also operate a parking lot and shuttle service from the Jefferson Community and Technical College campus lot on Second Street.

Here's a map to parking areas and more information on shuttle times and prices.Bikes aren't allowed inside the fair, but new bicycle racks have been installed at the Fourth Division Police Substation in Central Park for folks arriving on two wheels.
