Both sides of the Big Four Bridge are now open.Early Tuesday, barriers on the Indiana side were removed and people were allowed to walk or bike across the Ohio River between Louisville and Jeffersonville. The Kentucky side of the bridge opened in February 2013. Mayors Greg Fischer and Mike Moore, of Louisville and Jeffersonville respectively, attended the opening Tuesday afternoon with crowds waiting to cross the bridge. Nancy Garner lives on the Indiana side.“It’s going to be a great opportunity for people to come over and see Jeffersonville and it’s going to be great. I wanted to exercise and take walks, it’s going to be a really good opportunity because I wanted to see what’s over there in Kentucky," she said.Several delayskept the former railroad bridge from opening earlier, but now that it is open, city leaders and residents say they are looking forward to its economic and social benefits.
