Byline Today: JCPS Teacher Contract Negotiations, Immigration and More

A group of African American ministers this week called on Jefferson County Public Schools to open up its labor negotiations with teachers, the U.S. secretary of education was in town and putting focus on immigrants while the reform debate rages on in Congress. These topics and more will be discussed today on Byline.

I’ll chat with host Gabe Bullard (sitting in for Rick Howlett) about the recent call to open up the teachers contract negotiations to the public. And I’ll also talk about a visit to Louisville by U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, in which he and others pushed for expansion of early childhood development programs.

WFPL’s Phillip Bailey talks to the acting U.S. labor secretary.

And WFPL’s Erin Keane talks with Lucas Adams, director of the play “Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche.”

We’ll also hear Decode DC’s look brings us the stories of immigrants.

Join us at 1 today for these stories and more on Byline. Listen at 89.3 or stream at WFPL.org.
