Byline Today: Kentucky Legislature’s Rules on Relationships, Bevin/McConnell and JCPS’s Test Scores

Kentucky state accountability test results are released, Mitch McConnell and Matt Bevin campaign and the state's heath exchange is soon to open. We'll be talking about these stories and more this afternoon on Byline.

First up, WFPL's Phillip Bailey will catch us up on the latest as Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and primary challenger Matt Bevin tangle over Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's efforts to defund Obamacare. Phillip sticks around to talk along with Dewey Clayton, political science professor at the University of Louisville, about the role of the filibuster in the Senate.

Next up, education reporter Devin Katayama discusses the state's release of accountability test scores for schools. He'll discuss what the numbers mean for Jefferson County Public Schools. (And if you want to see how individual schools performed, check out our database.)

Devin will also discuss Kentucky's new health exchange, which opens next week.

R.G. Dunlop, reporter for the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting, will discuss his story on the rules governing relationships in the General Assembly. His story follows allegations of sexual harassment against then-state Rep. John Arnold, who recently resigned.

Tune in to 89.3 or stream at WFPL.org to hear these stories and more.
