Byline Today: Louisville Metro Council Issues, Same-Sex Marriage Opinion and More

It's been a bigger than usual news week in the Louisville area. Among other news, out-of-state same-sex marriage couples are, at the moment, recognized in Kentucky, we've heard details on changes at the Louisville's Air Pollution Control District  and questions were raised when a former Louisville prosecutor was charged with criminal assault two months after the alleged incident. We'll hear about these stories and more today on Byline.First off, WFPL's Phillip Bailey and the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting's Kristina Goetz will discuss the latest on the FBI's questioning of Louisville Metro Council members, and other on-going issues in the city's legislative body. The KyCIR's Ralph Dunlop will drop in to discuss Matt Conway, a former Louisville prosecutor (and brother of state Attorney General Jack Conway). Matt Conway has been charged with criminal assault, but the alleged victim and her attorney are questioning why prosecutors took two months to file the charge. We'll hear Erica Peterson's interview with APCD director Keith Talley, who'll discuss details of the agency's reorganization following critical audits.I'll drop in to discuss Jefferson County Public Schools' Schools of Innovation competition, in which the community was challenged to submit designs for new school concepts. JCPS has narrowed the field to 12 concepts, with the goal of having one of them running by the 2015-16 school year.I'll also discuss this week's final opinion from a federal judge that requires Kentucky to recognize out-of-state same-sex marriages. We'll also hear from Fund for the Arts leader Barbara Sexton Smith, who is retiring later this year. Plus, Robert Kahne of WFPL's Sound on Film podcast will discuss this Sunday's Academy Awards, where Louisville native Jennifer Lawrence is among the nominees. Join us at 1 p.m. at 89.3 (streaming at WFPL.org) to hear about these stories and more.
