The Louisville Metro Council is discussing Mayor Greg Fischer’s budget proposal, WHAS-11’s parent company is bought by The Courier-Journal’s and a preview of a new WFPL show. Those topics and more will be discussed todayo n Byline.

Metro Council members heard this week from non-profits groups upset that their funding was reduced in the mayor’s budget proposal. WFPL’s Phillip Bailey will discuss the situation with Gabe Bullard, who is sitting in for host Rick Howlett.

I’ll join Gabe to talk about Gannett Co.’s purchase of Belo. Gannett is the parent company of The Courier-Journal and Belo is the parent company of WHAS-11. We’ll discuss what this means for Louisville’s media landscape.

WFPL’s Devin Katayama will talk about this week’s Louisville Forum, where Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Donna Hargens spoke alongside Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday.

We’ll also have a preview of WFPL’s new show Unbound, which debuts at 7 p.m. Monday.
