Byline Today: West Louisville, the General Assembly and Carp Madness

Issues in West Louisville, the Kentucky General Assembly takes a break and Carp Madness are up for discussion this afternoon on Byline.

Guest host Gabe Bullard and WFPL’s Phillip M. Bailey talk with Louisville Magazine about its recent cover story exploring issues in West Louisville.

We’ll then discuss developments in the race for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, the ethics case against Metro Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin and a look at what’s passed and failed in the 2013 Kentucky General Assembly session.

And then we’ll talk carp. Specifically, WFPL’s Erica Peterson traveled to western Kentucky to report on a competition to fish Asian carp—an invasive species.

With baseball season just around the corner, WFPL’s Rick Howlett discusses the lives of relief pitchers.

Plus, Erin Keane and Bullard provide an update on arts happenings.

Join us at 1 p.m. today for Byline at 89.3 or streaming at WFPL.org.
