State officials are remembering Mike Haydon, Governor Steve Beshear's chief of staff, who died suddenly Sunday.

A memorial service for Haydon will be held tomorrow at the state Capitol.

Beshear said in a statement he and his wife are devastated by Haydon’s passing.    The 62 year old Haydon had served in state and local government for over three decades in various capacities and earned the respect of colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

Lt. Governor Jerry Abramson says Haydon was key link for state legislators.

“He was the go-to guy, you know, when they needed something done or they wanted to know how a project was moving forward.   He was always there for Democrats, for Republicans, he was there for Kentucky,” Abramson said.

“And that’s why it was just so shocking to hear he had this massive heart attack and we lost him.”

A memorial service for Mike Haydon will be held tomorrow at 3:30pm in the state Capitol Rotunda.  Visitation begins at 2:30pm.

Haydon's funeral is Friday in his native Springfield.
