Center for Interfaith Relations Appoints New Managing Director

Sarah Reed Harris is the new managing director for the Center for Interfaith Relations, the Louisville non-sectarian interfaith group.Harris, who is being promoted from assistant director, replaces Kathleen Lyons (who'd been executive director). Lyons retired in June. Harris' responsibilities will include community outreach and the group's interfaith activities, according to a released statement from CIR. She's coordinated the annual Festival of Faiths for the past three years and will continue to organize it.In its news release, the center said:  Ms. Harris, who spent her early years in Bogota, Colombia, moved to Louisville with her family in 1971. She is the daughter of the Rt. Rev. David B. Reed, retired Episcopal bishop of Kentucky, and civic leader Susan Guise. A graduate of Wellesley College, Ms. Harris received a master of public administration from the University of Louisville. Prior to joining the Center, for a decade Ms. Harris was a banker in Boston and in Louisville. Then, for ten years, she was involved in local community development efforts concentrating in workforce and urban business development services. She joined the Center two years ago and has coordinated the last three Festivals of Faiths. She and her husband, Charles Harris, have three daughters.
