Centre College Lifts Lockdown Following Homicides Near Campus

UPDATE 12:24 pm: According to Centre's Twitter account the lockdown has been lifted.Centre "has been informed by Danville police that we are clear to go off lockdown, effective immediately. Classes resume at 1:50 pm," the Tweet says.UPDATE 11.20 am: According to reports by The Advocate-Messenger, three people are reportedly dead after a suspected robbery at a Danville pawn shop, located at the intersection of South Fourth Street and Fackler.The AM reports authorities are still looking for a "white male, about 20 [years-old], with a scruffy beard, black hoodie and riding a bicycle."Original post:Officials say Centre College in Danville is on lockdown following a double homicide in the area.  The following is the statement recently released by the school.

Due to a double homicide in Danville reported by local law enforcement, Centre College is on lockdown and classes are cancelled until further notice. We have alerted our campus community through our emergency alert system and are providing updates through this means and social media  We have encouraged everyone to get to a secure building and stay where they are with doors closed. More information will be provided as available.WFPL will provide more information as it becomes available.
