Chemical Safety Board to Release Findings of Investigation Into 2011 Rubbertown Explosion

The Chemical Safety Board will be in Louisville next week to present the results of its investigation into the March 2011 explosion at the Carbide Industries plant in Rubbertown.The explosion killed two workers and injured two others on March 21, 2011, when an electric arc furnace over pressured and emitted hot gases and debris.The Chemical Safety Board is an independent federal agency that's charged with investigating all industrial chemical accidents. From a news release: CSB Chairperson Rafael Moure-Eraso said, “The CSB’s public meeting will present the formal findings and safety recommendations resulting from this tragic accident, I encourage members of the public to attend the CSB’s meeting.” [snip] The meeting will include a public comment period where members of the audience are encouraged to remark on the board’s findings and recommendations. At the conclusion of the public comment period, the Board will consider whether to approve the final report and recommendations.The meeting will be held at The Seelbach Hilton at 6:30pm on Thursday, February 7.
