Updated: Cold Leads Some Louisville Area School Districts to Delay Start or Close

Update 6:45 a.m. Thursday: Oldham County Schools Close

Oldham County Schools will be closed on Thursday. The school district was having issues with about a quarter of its bus fleet because of the cold weather,a  district spokeswoman said in a news release.

We've listed a few other school status changes for larger districts below.

With an overnight low in the Louisville area expected to be 1 degree, some school districts have opted to delay the start of school on Thursday.

The National Weather Service forecasts a low of 1 degree Wednesday night into Thursday. Wind chills could reach negative-10 degrees Wednesday night into Thursday morning; awind chill advisory has been issued effective until 10 a.m. Thursday, the weather service said. The high temperature on Thursday is forecast to be 19 degrees.

As of Wednesday night, Jefferson County Public Schools had issued no decision on whether the cold would change its start time on Thursday. But some area school districts have gone ahead and made decisions.

-New Albany-Floyd County Schools: 2-hour delay
-Greater Clark Schools: 2-hour delay
-Clarksville Community Schools: 2-hour delay
-West Clark Community Schools: 2-hour delay
