College Football: U of L Preps for UConn; UK's Montgomery Suffers Season-Ending Injury

The University of Louisville football team returns to action Friday after a week off.The Cards (7-1), ranked 16th in the latest coaches’ poll, travel to Connecticut to take on the 0-7 Huskies.U of L coach Charlie Strong says he likes the way his players have bounced back from their only loss of the season, a 38-35 upset last month at the hands of Central Florida. The defeat ended any possibility of U of L vying for a national championship, but Strong says the Cards can still position themselves for a top-tier bowl bid."I said (to the team), ‘the month of November, everybody remember(s) November.  They remember November, and I said there’s some key games in this month, there’s a lot of football left to be played out there, so let’s make sure we don’t stub our toe again,’" Strong said at his weekly press conference Monday. Friday’s kickoff at East Hartford, Connecticut is 8:30pm.The Kentucky Wildcats are coming off a homecoming win over Alabama State, just their second victory of the season.    UK (2-6) hosts number nine Missouri (8-1) Saturday afternoon.    They’ll be without wide receiver Alex Montgomery for the rest of the season.   He tore a knee ligament while celebrating a touchdown during last weekend’s victory over Alabama State.UK coach Mark Stoops says he doesn’t want to dampen his team’s enthusiasm, but is urging them to be careful after big plays."We’ve got to be smart about that.  I tell you, I’m even nervous---we’ve got a couple of those guys that can do back flips, and sometimes they’ll do that before practice and kind of get guys sparked up.   I’m a little leery of that as well.    So yeah, we may have to get our feet on the ground for celebrations right now," Stoops said Monday. Kickoff for UK vs Missouri is at noon Saturday.    Indiana (3-5)  is back in action as well Saturday, hosting Illinois (3-5) at 3:30pm.
