Led by a strong defensive effort, the Louisville Cardinals posted a 24-10 victory over Rutgers Thursday night at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The eighth-ranked Cardinals had four total interceptions and sacked quarterback Gary Nova eight times. The Cardinals needed a stepped-up defensive performance to offset quarterback Teddy Bridgewater's off night. The junior completed 21 of 31 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw an interception and fumbled early in the fourth quarter.Rutgers was within a touchdown of the Cardinals late in the game, but couldn't take advantage of those miscues in seeing its four-game winning streak end and losing a fourth straight time to the Cardinals, who are 6-0 on the season.
