Louisville Metro Councilwoman Attica Scott, D-1, will host Mayor Greg Fischer and the new CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. on a “reality ride” through southwestern parts District 1.
Since taking office, Scott has held several tours through neighborhoods in west and southwest Louisville with city officials to show them blight, crime and economic issues.
This tour with Fischer and GLI Inc. CEO Craig Richard has been in the works for several weeks.
Scott says this is a chance to give the mayor’s office and city chamber of commerce to see firsthand what the district has and needs economically.
“Unfortunately the city does not even have a vision for southwest Louisville. During the 2012 budget process when I asked staff from Economic Growth & Innovation where’s your written economic development plan for southwest Louisville they had none. So they have no written plan. And if they have a vision they’ve yet to share it with those of us who serve on Metro Council,” she says.
The tour will begin in the Lake Dreamland neighborhood and includes stops at Riverport, Riverside Gardens and LG&E’s Cane Run power station. It is scheduled for this Saturday at 1 p.m.
