Diane Rehm to Take Part in WFPL Panel Discussion on Changes in the News Media

The news media landscape is shifting in unprecedented ways—the decline of print, the rise of the Internet, the triumphs and pratfalls of instantaneous news dispense via broadcast and social media.What is the state of the news in 2013? And where is it going?Those questions and more will be explored later this month in a WFPL panel discussion on the changing landscape of the news media that will include NPR host Diane Rehm. The host of The Diane Rehm Show—which is heard by 2.4 million-plus listeners—will be joined by:

  • Keith Runyon, former Courier-Journal editorial page editor
  • Donovan Reynolds, president and general manager of WFPL's parent organization Louisville Public Media
  • James Miller, chair of the journalism and communications magnet at duPont Manual High School and WFPL's media critic
  • Gabe Bullard, WFPL's director of news and editorial strategy, will moderate.

Questions will be taken from the audience.The panel will be 8 a.m. on May 24 in the performance studio of Louisville Public Media, 619 S. Fourth St.  Tickets will cost $35. Breakfast will be served from Harvest Restaurant and Heine Brothers' Coffee.Reservations can be made at 814-6565. Space is limited.
