Early Screening of Jennifer Lawrence's Next Film to Benefit West End School

As it did with "Hunger Games: Catching Fire," the locally based Jennifer Lawrence Foundation is hosting a  benefit early screening of one of the Louisville native's films.The screening of director David O. Russell's "American Hustle" will be on Dec. 16 at Baxter Avenue Filmworks. Tickets will be $65 and will include a cocktail reception and silent auction.The screening benefits theWest End School,a free private school for at-risk boys. Lawrence won't be there, but family members, Mayor Greg Fischer and 610 Magnolia chef Edward Lee are expected to attend, the foundation said.Set in the 1970s, "American Hustle" is about the Abscam scandal  and stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Lawrence (and others). Russell also directed "Silver Linings Playbook," for which Lawrence won the Academy Award for Best Actress earlier this year.Here's a trailer:The film is released Dec. 18.Attendees to the benefit screening are "encouraged to dress in 1970s attire," the foundation said. Ticket information (there are about 275 available) is here. Lawrence is covering the cost of the screening so that the proceeds will benefit the West End School.The Jennifer Lawrence Foundation is a collaboration between Lawrence's family  and the Community Foundation of Louisville.Last month, the screening for "Catching Fire" raised an estimated $40,000 for St. Mary's Center,a non-profit that helps people with intellectual disabilities.
