Oprah Winfrey once explained this way her outlook on life after rising from a difficult childhood to a status of wealth and influence:

"Though I am grateful for the blessings of wealth, it hasn't changed who I am," she said in her magazine. "My feet are still on the ground. I'm just wearing better shoes."

Which brings the (maybe not obvious) question: What do those shoes look like?

Art Exhibit Honors 'The Greatest' at Ali Center

A new art exhibit honoring Muhammad Ali is open at The Muhammad Ali Center. “Ali: the Greatest” is a fine art tribute curated by Evolve The Gallery in Sacramento, Calif. Gallery co-owners Brady and A. Michelle Blakeley challenged 19 artists from across the country to create works inspired by the boxing legend.

Though the artists all share the same subject, their work is anything but uniform.

Wendell Berry, Helen Keller, Malcolm X and Eleanor Roosevelt are just a few of the prominent figures whose portraits have been painted by artist Robert Shetterly for his Americans Who Tell the Truth series, a portrait exhibit celebrating courageous citizens who have spoken out for democracy and human rights.

Ali Center Apppoints New CEO

The Muhammad Ali Center has announced that Donald Lassere will be its new president and CEO effective May 14.

Lassere has most recently served as senior vice president of Scholarship America, an education assistance program based in Minnesota.

“Muhammad and I are grateful and excited to welcome Donald as the new CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center,” Ali’s wife, Lonnie, said in a release.
