First Data Will Lay Off 344 Workers in Louisville

More than 300 Louisville call center workers will lose their jobs in the coming months.First Data Technologies has filed notice with the state to lay off 344 workers between now and early fall. The company is a division of the Atlanta-based First Data Corporation, which handles credit card processing and similar services. First Data took over the business from Bank of America several months ago.

From the Courier-Journal:

Those losing their jobs were employees of Bank of America until Jan. 1, when First Data purchased Bank of America’s processing platform, Grice said. The jobs were transferred as part of the deal.

Company officials did not return a request for comment, but a spokeswoman tells Business First that the duties of the laid off workers will be transferred to other offices.
