Ford Cuts Maintenance Days To Produce More Vehicles At Louisville Truck Plant

For the second straight year,  Ford Motor Company will reduce the number of days it shuts down its Louisville Truck Plant this summer for maintenance.

This year Ford will do the same with Louisville’s Truck Plant and five other assembly plants, including Chicago Assembly, Cuautitlan Assembly, Hermisillo Stamping and Assembly, Michigan Assembly and Oakville Assembly.Officials say this should produce an extra 40,000 vehicles this year, adding to the additional 200,000 vehicles Ford expects to produce on top of last year's number.Ford’s not the only one. Chrysler also plans to reduce its summer shutdowns and in some cases cancel them.Ford’s share of the U.S. market has increased more than other car companies. Last year, Ford added over 8,000 jobs across America. This year, the company plans to add 3,500 more.Ford’s Louisville Assembly Plant will continue with its regularly scheduled shutdown.
