Up Front TV: Teddy Abrams

At the age of just 26, Teddy Abrams will take over as conductor and music director of the Louisville Orchestra. Abrams has been tasked with turning around an orchestra that has dealt with musician strikes and other financial woes.  That, compounded with larger issues, such as whether or not classical music has been in decline — and will remain in decline —  makes this position even more complicated. Teddy Abrams was raised in Oakland and educated at the elite Curtis Institute of Music. A pianist and clarinetist, he’s collaborated with many leading symphonies across the country. Abrams joined me in our Louisville studios to discuss his love for classical music, and where he intends to take the Louisville Orchestra.

Jonathan Bastian is the midday host for WFPL News.
