Get Reading: Library Offers Free E-Magazines

Looking for the latest edition of ESPN Magazine, Esquire or Elle? How about Knit Magazine or Bloomberg Business Week? Well, if you're a Louisville Free Public Library member, look no further. The LFPL has struck a deal with Zinio to allow cardholders free access to several dozen magazines in the electronic format. The issues can be read on computers, tablets or phones using Zinio's proprietary app, and subscriptions can be managed through an LFPL Zinio page. But, these aren't the same as typical magazine apps that offer extras, interactive features and automatically playing videos (who doesn't love autoplay?). Zinio magazines are page-by-page scans. The library's announcement says the program starts December 1st, but here it is on the 30th and I'm reading the latest Columbia Journalism Review (that counts as work, right?)...so go enjoy some magazines, if you're so inclined.
