Gregg To Seek Indiana Democratic Gubernatorial Nomination

Former Indiana House Speaker John Gregg will run for governor in 2012. Gregg filed paperwork today to create an exploratory committee and plans an official campaign kickoff later. Gregg also launched a website that includes a video of him on a porch swing, where he says Indiana can become a world leader in business, innovation and manufacturing. "Throughout Indiana I see our collective potential as limitless. With the right leadership we can grow and protect our economy, get Hoosiers back to work now and invest in the future," he said. The 56 year old Gregg, an attorney, is a native of Sandborn, in Knox County, Indiana. He served in the state House from 1986 through 2002, and was speaker for the final six years of his tenure. He is the first Democrat to announce for the race. Congressman Mike Pence and businessman Jim Wallace are seeking the Republican nomination.
