Heading to Lexington for the NCAA Tournament? Think About Traffic

Kentucky transportation officials have a hunch that thousands of people will descend onto Lexington's Rupp Arena for first and second round games of the NCAA Tournament, starting Thursday. And, of course, there's roadwork on state highways to contend with. Here's some advice issued Tuesday morning by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet: While one-lane traffic has occurred recently due to work on KY 922 (Newtown Pike) and U.S. 60 (Versailles Road), the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet anticipates a two-lane traffic flow on both routes before the first tip-off Thursday afternoon. The Transportation Cabinet suggests the following routes: ·         Traffic from the north, east and west via Interstate 75 and Interstate 64 should use exit 113, Broadway to Rupp Arena. ·         Traffic from the south via I-75 should use exit 104, Richmond Road. Tournament goers are also advised to allow extra time due to Rupp Arena’s location in downtown Lexington. The Louisville Cardinals play at 6:50 p.m. Thursday in Rupp.(Image via Shutterstock.)
