Hike, Bike or Paddle? Louisville's Bi-Annual Event Returns on Labor Day.

Thousands of Louisvillians are expected to head to Waterfront Park on Monday to participate in Mayor Greg Fischer’s Healthy Hometown Hike, Bike and Paddle event.

Louisville ranks 10th in general health out of 15 peer cities, according to one report from the Greater Louisville Project.    And Jefferson County is 30th in overall health among Kentucky’s 150 counties.Studies have shown that health indicators are related to income.  Oldham County continues to rank highest in state health listings.The goal of Louisville’s bi-annual event is to encourage fitness through outdoor activities.Participants have the choice of a hike along the waterfront, a 10-mile bike ride to Shawnee Park, or a three-mile river paddle.The event opens at 8 a.m. The hike, bike, and paddle will start at 10 a.m..The event used to be called the “Mayor’s Hike and Bike,” but was expanded to include paddling on the Ohio River in 2011. To see more information on where to meet and routes, click here.
