A Thriller About Morality? Jacquelyn Mitchard On Her New Novel

Jacquelyn Mitchard is the bestselling author of "The Deep End of the Ocean."

She's in Louisville on Thursday promoting her latest novel, "Two If By Sea," a story of personal transformation that mixes magical realism with redemption.

Mitchard is scheduled to appear at Thursday’s Author Series at the Louisville Free Public Library at 7 p.m. at the main branch downtown.

I talked with her about her new book and the journey on which she takes its protagonist, Frank Mercy.

"We all are a little bit cynical," Mitchard says. "But goodness and the wish to instill it is something that's unexpected and greeted with cynicism -- and even skepticism and anger -- in every culture. Look what happened to Jesus."
