JCPS Facilities Director Says Flooding is 'Very Manageable'

Jefferson County Public Schools Director of Facilities Mike Mulheirn says cleanup from this week’s floods will be no problem in time for the start of school a week from tomorrow. He says about 45 schools have damage of some sort, 23 of those include what he calls major water damage.But, Mulheirn says, it’s a much smaller problem than what officials were faced with following last year’s wind storm and January’s ice storm.“We have two schools without power, two schools with partial power," says Mulheirn. "After the windstorm and the ice storm, we had about 120 schools without power, and I think 70 with the ice, so everything is very manageable regarding flooding damage.”Mulheirn says the worst damage was done to the gymnasium floor at Manual High School. The floor might have to be replaced.
