Jeffersonville Mayor to Discuss Plans for Big Four Approach

Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore is asking city residents to give input on design plans for Indiana s approach to the Big Four Bridge, which will likely include mixed-use and recreational developments.Moore’s vision includes attracting both Jeffersonville and Louisville residents who he believes will be drawn in through the new pedestrian span. He already has a strong design plan in mind and last month he asked the Redevelopment Commission president to step down for not backing it.The plan includes a residential and commercial development as well as an open air pavilion.“Which could be utilized for many different things, farmer’s markets, little concerts. I could see in the fall I’d like to have a large fireplace inside this room where we could utilize if for story telling at Thanksgiving or Christmas time," said Moore. These are the types of ideas Moore is looking for and he encourages residents to check out the plan and offer suggestions this Thursday at a public forum where the designs will be unveiled and discussed.“I’d like to be able to do all of this two and a half million dollars. It could cost a little bit more than that we haven’t gotten to that point yet," he said.Moore said he expects construction to begin shortly after the Big Four Bridge is complete in April. The forum will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville.
