Kentucky Wildcats Attempt to Improve NCAA Case in SEC Tournament

The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team attempt to improve their chances for an NCAA Tournament bid this evening in their first game in the Southeastern Conference Tournament. The Wildcats play the Vanderbilt Commodores at 7 p.m. this evening. Kentucky, the defending national champion, is projected to be among the 68 teams in the 2013 NCAA Tournament after defeating the then-eleventh-ranked Florida Gators last week, according to ESPN's Bracketology. In those hypothetical match-ups, Kentucky would be a No. 11 seed and be placed in a play-in game. Still, ESPN's Bubble Watch said that the Wildcats’ hopes could be imperiled by an early exit from the SEC Tournament. ESPN adds:

As of right now, I'd wager the Cats are just on the right side of the bubble. But only barely -- they're not safe. And either Arkansas or Vanderbilt in the SEC tournament could be full of bad-loss potential.

The Commodores are 15-16 and the Wildcats are 21-10. The Wildcats have beaten the Commodores twice this season. The winner of tonight’s game will play either Missouri or Ole Miss on Saturday. Also tonight, the Louisville Cardinals will attempt to advance in the Big East Tournament against Notre Dame. The Cardinals and Fighting Irish played twice this season, each winning a game. The Cardinals defeated Villanova on Thursday night—and celebrated the win with former President Bill Clinton.
