Kentucky's Online Health Insurance Exchange Gets 2,902 Completed Applications on Day 1

Into its first evening Tuesday, 2,902 Kentuckians had completed applications through the state's online health insurance exchange and 4,691 applications were started, Gov. Steve Beshearsaid via Twitter.Also, 35 small business owners (businesses with 25 or fewer employees can get tax credits) had begun the application process, the governor Tweeted. By 7 p.m., about 78,000 people had logged onto the online health insurance exchange, calledkynect.Kentucky's online health insurance exchange —launched as part of the federalAffordable Care Act—endured technical difficulties for part of Tuesday, like other states. For more on kynect and on Tuesday's developments, seethese dispatches from WFPL's Devin Katayama.Update: Beshear said (again, on Twitter) Wednesday morning that kynect had 1 million page views since its launch and had pre-screened 82,558 people for possible subsidies and other benefits.  The call center for the health insurance exchange got about 9,000 calls on the first day.
