LG&E Applies For Rate Cut

Louisville Gas and Electric is seeking to decrease its customers' natural gas rates this winter.LG&E has applied to the Public Service Commission for a 39 percent drop in natural gas rates. It would only be effective in November, December and January, but would translate to an average savings about a $38 per month.Company spokesperson Chip Keeling says the drop is the result of a shift in supply and demand."I believe a decline in the economy has caused the decline in natural gas. There's less industries that are using natural gas right now. If the economy bounces back, then you could see an increase, potentially."The PSC is expected to rule on the proposed price cut in the next few weeks.
