Louisville Cardinals Win Russell Athletic Bowl

The Louisville Cardinals easily defeated the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday night to win the Russell Athletic Bowl.

Junior quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth as Louisville won 36-9 in Orlando, Fla. The Cardinals had 554 total yards to Miami’s 174.

The No. 18-ranked Louisville was down early after Bridgewater was tackled for a safety, but Miami wouldn’t score again until the fourth quarter.

It was their second straight bowl victory. The Cardinals finish the 2013 season with a 12-1 record.

The Russell Athletic Bowl was also Louisville’s last football game as a member of the American Athletic Conference. UofL joins the Atlantic Coast Conference—of which Miami (9-4) is a member—in 2014.
