Louisville's Pakistani community will hold a candlelight vigil Saturday in response to a mass school shooting this week in the Pakistan city of Peshawar.
An attack by the Taliban terrorist group left more than 140 dead, mostly children, leaving many in the area and around the world in shock.
“No human can do this act of violence and this barbaric act to be condemned and we pray," said Fareed Bhutto, a member of the Association of Physicians of Pakstani Descent of Kentucky and Indiana.
The group joins others in condemning the acts of terrorism, he said.
“This is an unacceptable and inhuman act especially killing children in the school in front of their friends, brothers, sisters, and teachers," said Bhutto.
The candlelight vigil is planned for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Hillcrest Community Home Owners Association in Prospect, 12618 Ridgemoor Dr.
Bhutto said members of the local interfaith community and the public are invited to join in remembrance.
As reported by WAVE3 News, at least one Louisville area resident had distant relatives killed in the attack.
