Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson: 'Never Say Never' to Future Campaigns

Jerry Abramson has announced that he won't run for Kentucky governor in 2015, but he says he isn't necessarily done with electoral politics.“You never know what kind of situation might change, what kind of situations might be different in the future than they are today," says Abramson, the lieutenant governor and former Louisville mayor."You never say never.”Abramson didn't identify any particular office he's eyeing.Abramson says he'd rather focus on improving education in his last two years as lieutenant governor thanlaunch a campaign for the state's top office. But while he's not planning to run for anything yet, the 66-year old Abramson won't rule out a bid for another office at some point in the future. He also says his new attention on academics does not mean he's angling to become president of the University of Louisville, a position he sought in the 1990s.“They have an outstanding president at the University of Louisville, who, last time I checked, got an extension on his contract," Abramson says. "I think Jim Ramsey's doing an outstanding job. I hear that question a lot."Current U of L President James Ramsey's contract has been extended through 2020.
