Matt Bevin Failed to Mention State He's Running for in Campaign Disclosure, Says FEC

A small mistake or an attack ad in the making?Republican U.S. Senate candidate Matt Bevin failed to include he is seeking office in Kentucky in campaign disclosure forms, according to a letter from the The Federal Election Commission sent Monday.Bevin is running in the GOP primary election next year to unseat incumbent Mitch McConnell.FEC Letter to Bevin Given the increasingly bitter tone of the campaign and opposition research against Bevin thus far, it's likely this tiny piece of paperwork could find its way in a McConnell attack ad. The FEC is an independent agency that regulates and administers finance laws in federal elections, and has the ability to pass out fines and other penalties.  The Bevin campaign must respond to the FEC by September 30. UPDATE: As predicted, the McConnell campaign pounced on the FEC letter asking the Bevin campaign to specific the state the challenger is running in. "Either Matt Bevin's failure to comply with legal filings has followed him from his East Coast business career to his political ambitions or he wants to keep his options open about where he runs for office," says McConnell campaign spokeswoman Allison Moore.  "Today’s admonishment by the FEC for his failure to list the commonwealth on his forms is yet another example of how 'Bailout Bevin' is not a Kentucky conservative."
