Metro Government Grants Permit to Occupy Louisville

Occupy Louisville demonstrators can now stay in Jefferson Square Park overnight until the end of the year, according to a copy of the permit acquired by WFPL.Occupy Louisville continues to be a presence in the region. Around 100 demonstrators marched north on Bardstown Road on Saturday. The demonstration mirrors Occupy Wall Street in New York City in standing against corporate greed and the influence of money in politics. The event permit granted to Occupy Louisville began last Friday and runs until 11:00 pm on New Year's Eve.The permit asks that Occupy Louisville work with Metro Government to accommodate other people who may want a permit in Jefferson Square Park through the end of the year. It also says demonstrators are not allowed in the park during Light Up Louisville, but can reenter on Nov. 28, when it comes down.Metro Government reserves the right to revoke the permit at any time.Click here to see a copy of the permit.
