Nobel Prize Laureate James Heckman to Address Education

Economist and Nobel Prize laureate James Heckman will speak Wednesday in Louisville during an event co-hosted by the Governor's Office of Early Childhood Development.

Heckman is an economics professor at the University of Chicago, where his recent research has focused on inequality, human development and "life-cycle skill formation, with a special emphasis on the economics of early childhood." He shared the 2000 Nobel Prize for economics "for his development of theory and methods for analyzing selective samples," according to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence is also co-hosting the talk, which will begin at noon at the Louisville Marriott Downtown, 280 W. Jefferson St. Reservations are required.
