Nominations Sought For Civil Rights Hall Of Fame

The deadline to nominate someone to be considered for the 2012 Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame is next Monday, July 16.Cynthia Fox with the Kentucky Commission on Human Rightssays anyone 18 and other can nominate a person for the honor.Nominees can be living or deceased and does not have to be currently active in civil rights."The nominations require that we have a biography, a 200 to 500 word biography on the nominee, explaining their contributions to civil rights in Kentucky, their life accomplishments.    And three letters of recommendation supporting the nomination," Fox said.A hall of fame induction ceremony will be held in October.    

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
