Now You Can Look Up Louisville Metro Corrections Inmates Online

Louisville Metro Corrections has launched a new feature that allows people to look up information about inmates on the Internet. The XJail system was officially unveiled last week. Users can search for jail inmates by name, alphabetically or by entry or release date. The system gives information about when the inmate was booked, when they may be released and their charges. It also includes a mugshot.Jail officials say they implemented X-Jail because they were getting hundreds of phone calls each day from people seeking information about each inmate.ACLU of Kentucky spokeswoman Amber Duke says her group is pleased that XJail removes inmates’ information as soon as they’re released.“The thing that I also think is good about this system is that once people are no longer in custody of Metro Corrections, then their information is no longer available in this new system.”When parts of the system were released this summer, the ACLU of Kentucky had complaints that some of the information was not removed . Duke says those issues have been resolved. The system was included in Metro Correction's contract for a new phone system, but it would've cost about $1.4 million if it'd been bought singly, said Kelly Feiock, a spokeswoman for the jail. It's a mugshots.louisvilleky.gov.
