US Senate Photographic Studio-Fr

U.S. Sen.Rand Paul will be one of two GOP senators providing a rebuttal to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address on Tuesday.Paul is providing the tea party response to the annual address, while U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida will provide the Republican Party's official response. Both senators are considered potential presidential candidates in 2016. While they are hitting the national stage at the same time, Paul says he's not sure whether that makes both he and Rubio the new faces of the GOP."Well I don't know if I get to decide who the faces of the GOP are. I am complimented and excited that I get to give one of the responses to the State of the Union and I'm looking forward to it," Paul says.President Obama will give the speech on Tuesday night and will likely address gun control, immigration reform and climate change. And while Paul says his response isn't finalized yet, he says he'll focus on the president's lack of action on federal debt."The main thing is that I think that the president is failing to lead on doing anything on the debt. We're borrowing $50,000 a second. And the president really needs to stand up and say how are we going to fix this problem before this debt really begins to drag us down," Paul says.
