Bardstown Police Officer Fatally Shot

A Bardstown Police officer was found shot to death this morning outside his cruiser on a Bluegrass Parkway exit ramp.

The Kentucky Standard reports that 33 year old Officer Jason Scott Ellis was on his way home from work when he was shot on Exit Ramp 34, sometime before 3:00am. He was in uniform and his emergency lights were flashing.

Bardstown Police Chief Rick McCubbin says there had been no radio contact from Ellis prior to the shooting.

Kentucky State Police are investigating.

Ellis, a resident of Chaplin in Nelson County, was a seven-year veteran of the Bardstown force. Survivors include his wife and two young sons.
