Beshear Discusses Auditor's Report of Misused Funds at Kentucky Emergency Management

Gov. Steve Beshear said he hasn't "taken any options off the table" in dealing with Kentucky Emergency Management following a state auditor's report alleging that the agency spent more than $100,000 on parties and other disallowed expenditures.The audit released Tuesday also found that Kentucky Emergency Management officials intimidated employees and altered documents regarding the expenditures.(Read the full report here.)Speaking in Louisville on Wednesday, Beshear said:“First, I appreciate the auditor’s report. It’s got some serious allegations in it. We have it right now, we’re going to review it thoroughly and then once we get that review done we’re going to take whatever action we think is appropriate.”He was then asked if he should fire Brig. Gen. John Heltzel, the director of Kentucky Emergency Management.“At this point, we haven’t taken any options off the table and we’ll make a decision after we review the report," Beshear said.
